The founder of Magirsha Industries, Rohit M. Desai, a technocrat with about five decades of total experience in engineering field, had obtained B.E. (Mech) and B.E. (Elec) degrees from M.S. University, Vadodara with first class distinction. He, further attained master's degree in General Machine Design in Mechanical engineering from University of California, Berkeley, USA in the year 1965.

He started his professional career with National Cash Register and Western Gear Corp, Los Angeles, USA and worked there as design and development engineer from 1965 to 1967. Starting 1968, for the next three years he worked with Ralph M Parsons Co., Mumbai, India, as a Mech. Design engineer. From 1970 till 1975 he worked with Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Co. Ltd. (GSFC), Vadodara, Gujarat, as a Design Engineer (Mech.). In March 1975, this company named “Magirsha Industries” was established in Vadodara, India.
